The circle silver circle badge to the left can be worn many ways to proudly show that you / your department has gone through an application process and is registered.

Any Fire Department which provide structured and coordinated Fire Rescue services to an Indigenous community can become "Registered." By "Registering" with IFSD you are showing that you have met a standard and are now Awarded Recognition for responding to and supporting Indigenous Communities. This Certificate Award, lasts 3 years.
This shows that the Fire Department has established the basic leadership, governance, structure, standards, branding, contact and operational minimums. (The Fire Department can be paid, volunteer, composite, paid on call, etc.)

Displaying their certificate prominently in a frame
Wearing or displaying the Cloth Badge
Wearing the IFSD Lapel Pin
ELIGIBLE FIRE DEPARTMENTS
Must be Indigenous or responding to / serving / have served Indigenous Fire Departments
Terminology: Indigenous generally used to mean First Nations, Métis Mateis, Inuit, Tribal, etc.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS ARE AWARDED
Upon successful application the Fire Chief or the Department Designate will receive "Registered IFSD Fire Department" items

SUMMARY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FD (FIRE DEPARTMENT)
FD is officially / Legally established (e.g., BCR, incorporation papers, etc.)
FD must be over 2 years old (e.g., Not starting)
FD must have a named "head" (e.g., Chief) and Responders (6 to 10)
FD must have a Response Vehicle (e.g., Fire Truck)
FD must have a statement on it's purpose (e.g., Mission, Vision, Values, Strategy, Motto, etc.)
Additional Attachments / Supports
We may ask for the following additional items to be attached:
Chief's Resolution or Band Council Resolution (BCR) or Corp. Reg.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
Other Supports (Municipal Service Agreement, Mutual Aid, etc.)
Return the form with payment of $500 Fee*

BURSORY / GRANT
For those volunteer departments entirely without funding, we may be able to provide financial support.
HOW TO APPLY
Becoming Registered shows attention and commitment to establishing a formal structured Fire Rescue organisation and providing levels of service to the Indigenous community/s you serve!
Simply, complete the online form or print the form and provide the following 10 items:
✅ Name of the Fire Chief / Head of the Fire Department
✅ 2nd Person (like Deputy, Fire Prevention, Training Officer)
✅ Min. 6 to 10 Firefighters (and medics if medical response)
✅ Governance Statement and Leadership Structure (Org Chart)
✅ Purpose Statement/s (Mission, Vision, Values, Strategy, Motto, etc.)
✅ A sample SOG / SOP for the Fire Department
✅ A sample of the Fire Dept. member recruiting form/s
✅ A Fire Department Logo (JPG, PNG, GIF, Ai, EPS, File etc.)
✅ Contact Details: Mailing Address, Telephone Number, Fire Rescue Website and Email Address
✅ Any Social Media Presence (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, etc.)
